Answers to Your Questions
I’m not sure if my child has anxiety. Can you give us a diagnosis?
No, I cannot provide an evaluation for anxiety or a diagnosis of anxiety. I do not provide therapy services through my masterclasses and coaching. Online content and coaching are for education and support only.
How is this different from individual or group therapy?
Therapy services are health care services aimed to treat specific problems, conditions, or diagnoses. This masterclass and/or coaching do not include psychotherapy or any other health care service. The goal is to help you gain confidence in your parenting and give you tools to meet your own goals. Classes and coaching aim to improve the relationship between you and your child, increase your understanding of their needs, and gain knowledge about practical strategies.
My child is already working with a mental health provider on anxiety. Will this interfere?
No, it will likely be a helpful addition. Many mental health providers work with children individually. This masterclass and/or coaching aim to support parents with kids’ anxiety. They draw on cognitive-behavioral principles, which is the current gold standard for treatment of child anxiety, and SPACE which is a commonly recommended treatment. Feel free to have a conversation with your child’s mental health provider about how this masterclass can further support your child’s treatment goals.
I have a question that I’d really like answered, is there a way to ask questions?
Sure! Relationships First members get access to unlimited direct messaging. Once you log-in, you can activate messaging after you complete the first 4 modules.
I’m not sure if it’s separation anxiety, but my child is nervous about going to school. Will this help?
The focus of this Masterclass will be on separation anxiety. However, many of the ideas can apply to other situations to help kids overcome fears and worries. This Masterclass will also touch on common school-based worries.
Can I do this if I live outside the US?
Yes, masterclasses and coaching are open to parents and caregivers worldwide.
What if I care for kids, but I’m not their primary caregiver?
Excellent! We’d love for you to join. Strategies can be used by baby-sitters, daycare providers, teachers, grandparents, and whoever regularly interacts with children. You play an important role in easing transitions and kids’ worries too!
